Day 13,14,15 - Chapter 13,14,15

I would love to blog about my weekend at ladies retreat, God places so many new thoughts in my head I am still working my mind through them! I will be happy to report soon- I first want to get my chapters blogged.

Day 13 – Chapter 13

Here are a few verses that stood out during my reading on the 13th.
Vs 3 “Careful words make a careful life; careless talk may ruin everything.” This and so many other verses remind me of the quote, “stick and stone may break my bones but words may never hurt.” The things is, that words hurt the worst and once we throw our words out there, we cannot take them back, the bone doesn’t heal. We not only have to learn to move past hurtful words but be extremely cautious of the words we use.

James 1:26 (New International Version)
26If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.
This sums up day 13 – there is much more to this chapter but this topic is what I was impressed with the most to share.

Day 14 – Chapter 14

The major theme that stood out to me after reading chapter 14 was being truthful in our lives, our witness and our actions!
Vs. 5 “A truthful witness does not deceive, but false witness pours out lies.”
Vs. 25 “A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful.”
Of course there was so much more to this chapter but this topic rang true in my heart. Even after this weekend, something I walked away with, that stuck more than ever. PEOPLE ARE ALAWYS WATCHING- they are watching to see if our actions match our words. I don’t believe all watch to be judgment but because they are interested in that “THING” we posses that they want. And they want to know if it’s real or not

Day 15 – Chapter 15

The first verse that really stuck out to me is vs. 4 “the tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.” Our words are so important and we hold this power over ourselves and other by the words that come out of our mouth. We have the ability just by opening our mouth to make someone’s day better or crush it. The message stats this verses like this: “Kind words heal and help; cutting words wound and maim.”

Vs 17 “Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred”
Would you rather be around LOVE or HATE?

Vs 22 “Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail; take good counsel and watch them succeed.” A reminder of not letting pride get in the way, I know I have done this in the past and seen people do this- “I know” because we are to unwilling to admit when we don’t know! If we can push pride aside and say please, teach me, wow especially if we can say that to God- he will do amazing things. We have to be open to allowing Him to teach us, through the pain even.

Finishing today with: Fear-of God is a school in skilled living- first you learn humility, then you experience glory” YES LORD I WANT SOME OF THAT!!
