I am beginning to prepare for my exciting journey in March, 31 Days of March and 31 chapters of Proverbs. When God first place this new adventure on my heart I began by reading the “Introduction to Proverbs” I have definitely learned that the time, setting, author and theme have a tremendous impact on me when I am reading a new book in God’s word.
Proverbs:
Author: Primarily King Solomon and other wise men
Audience: The people of Israel
Date: Primarily during Solomon’s reign (970-930 B.C.)
Theme: Proverbs describes the importance of living wisely and in the fear of the Lord as opposed to following the seductive path of folly.
After reading this, specifically the theme- woot woot!!!! - That sounds fantastic!! I have done studies on ‘Fear of the Lord”, “Wisdom vs. Knowledge” ** But I am overly excited about buckling down and seeing what the wise book of Proverbs has to offer me…. So for the 31 days of March that we are blessed with, I am committed to reading a chapter a day and blogging what God is showing me! YES- can March come quicker please!!!!
If you would like to take this challenge with me- that would be fabulous. I do have a blog site set up, there will be a daily proposed question from that day’s reading-email me if you want to dig in with a group of young ladies and enjoy daily interaction with fellow sisters in Christ. (Or men you never know who God will place this study on their heart)
God always takes the extra mile with us- are you willing to return the favor???
I recently finished reading Proverbs (in my quest to read the Bible from start to finish). In homeschool, we also have a scripture verse from Proverbs each week as our memory verse. So many wonderful things in that book, and neat how some weeks the verse speaks right to me. Enjoy the study!! =)
